If you were at our wedding, you probably saw that we had little cows on our cake. Or if you are good friends with us, you probably have seen or heard of “World Cow.” But you most likely have no idea where he came from. I’m here to clear up all the confusion, and let you in on our fun little character that follows us around from time to time.
Meet World Cow:

This was the first “cartoonized” version of World Cow. Although soon after we realized that he was a he/she. Can’t have horns, AND utters. So we decided to loose the utters. So in case you were wondering, World Cow is a boy. But even before the first cartoon of World Cow, there was a drawing that inspired the idea of World Cow.
This was long before JD and I were dating. I would say about 2008. We had started hanging out as friends. His maintenance work had him working all over the city, and on the days he happened to be working in Plymouth, he would stop by Susan and my work to visit. Sometimes bringing Dairy Queen. On this particular day he didn’t tell us he was stopping by. I was on the phone talking to a client, so he sat down in Susan’s cube to chat while he waited for me to get off the phone. Susan, being the mother that she is, gave him some crayons and a scrap paper to doodle on while he waited. This is the drawing he made:

Apparently he was a little self-conscience of his drawing so he felt obligated to label what everything was, in case we couldn’t tell. I got off the phone, and Susan called me right away to have me come help her in her cube with something. (why she called me all the time I’ll never know, considering her cube was right next to mine.) Either way I headed next door, and there was JD! What a nice surprise, and he handed me the drawing “look I drew you a picture!” Susan and I started discussing this lovely drawing. Then Susan pointed out “what is with the cow? He seems very round, and those markings happen to look a lot like Africa – if I didn’t know better I would say his body looks like the WORLD!!” Man we laughed!

JD had to leave and we all went back to work. I decided this cow with a “world” body deserved to be known, so as a joke for JD, later that afternoon on my break, I started searching the internet for a globe showing Africa. And it happened to be tan! (to match the brown cow). I also found a drawing of a cow that i sorta pieced together to make World Cow. I sent this new glorified World Cow cartoon to JD on his cell phone. He laughed so HARD! Thus World Cow was born.
The following weeks I started adding accessories to World Cow that depicted what was going on in our lives. This first one was dedicated to this silly song that Susan and I kept singing. “you can’t rollerskate in a buffalo heard.” As you can see we still hadn’t caught on at this point that World Cow was still a he/she. JD pointed that one out.

This next one shows some stylish converse shoes (I had just bought some), and a revised BOY World Cow.

Then JD invited me to go see MXPX in concert with him. So I had to create a World Cow that was wearing an MXPX punk rock belt to commemorate the occasion.

I went Sky Diving that year, for the first time. Big Deal, so of course World Cow was there to join me!

JD and I went camping with Susan and Luke on the St. Croix River. And of course World Cow was there to float the river with us!

We celebrated a Birthday Party!

Susan celebrated her GOLDEN Birthday!

It was Cinco De Mayo!

I went on vacation to Arizona & Hawaii.

Susan went on vacation with Luke to Mexico.

Susan got very sick and spent several days in the hospital. World Cow was there to comfort her.

JD PROPOSED!!!

I can’t remember what this one was about. Susan created it. Rather interesting and funny!

Susan asked me to go shopping with her on our lunch break one day. Well she had World Cow ask me.

When we got married, we couldn’t think of anything better to use ask cake toppers other than WORLD COW! So we spent and ENTIRE Saturday sculpting our very own World Cow cake toppers. They turned out Really good! The first World Cow in 3D form! And the bride was a girl, even though we didn’t put utters on her. But the groom wore converse shoes just like JD did in our wedding!

Susan and I reached a breaking point in the office, and felt overloaded with work.

JD Graduated from college with a degree in Music business!

We had to Move. (read more about the move here)

And Finally today, I upgraded World Cow. I decided he’s looked a little too low-res for long enough. We outfitted him with nice clean outlines today!

And one last one. Since we now offer photography as a service in our business Verismo Studio. World Cow also picked up photography as well. He might actually be good enough to be our assistant one day.
